Verlinda Gunter

Homegoing services for Verlinda will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2020, 12:00 noon at Antioch Bibleway Church in Wagener, SC.  The burial will to take place at the Swedenburg-Gunter Cemetery, Wagener, SC  immediately after the completion of the services.

Verlinda Ruth Gunter (Linda), daughter of the late David Jerome Gunter and Naomi Wells Gunter was born on September 5, 1961, in Wagener, SC. She entered eternal rest early in the morning on July 5, 2022. Verlinda attended Bibleway Church Wagener where she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age. She attended Bibleway Church of St. Matthews in later years.

Verlinda graduated with honors from Wagener Salley High School. She received a scholarship from Wofford College, in Spartanburg where she earned a bachelor’s degree in library science. She later earned a master’s degree in library science from the University of South Carolina. Verlinda enjoyed an extensive career as a librarian in Beaufort and Orangeburg County Schools.

Verlinda was soft spoken, kind, and had a good sense of humor. Growing up close in age to her nieces and nephews, she was both aunt and friend. She was a lifelong learner, taking classes online and expanding her wealth of knowledge throughout her life. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and attending church. God always was and continued to be first in her life. As she accepted her diagnosis and determined she was ready to be with the Lord, she made one request. Linda wanted to continue hearing God’s word. She looked forward to us reading her “Daily Bread” lessons and scriptures. They brought her comfort and peace.

Verlinda leaves to treasure her memory, her brother Jerome (Reese) Gunter, Sister-in-Law, Kathleen Gunter, Brother-in-Law, James Staley (late Doris Gunter Staley), Sister-in-Law, Joslyn Gunter, Nephews,  Dawan Gunter (Misha Davis-Gunter), Pastor Aaron Staley (LaChristall), Denoya Staley, Vashion Staley (Erica), Nieces;  Manay Gunter,  Lonzette Gunter, and Grenda Abney; beloved great nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins and friends.   She was preceded in death by her younger brother,  Taray Gunter,, niece, Cassandra Staley (Net) and nephew, Kessler  Gunter.
