Thembi Chalmers, a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to many transitioned to her heavenly home on July 5, 2020. Thembi was born on November 17, 1976, in Brooklyn, NY. She was the daughter of Dorothy and Tommy Chalmers.
Thembi grew up in Brooklyn, NY where she attended Murry Bergtraum High School. After high school, she moved to South Carolina to attend the Job Corps. After graduating from the JobCorps, Thembi went on to attend Vorhees College in Denmark, SC for two years. She then moved back to New York where she attended Long Island University, then known as Kean University, where she earned her Bachelors Degree. She later relocated to Columbia, SC, and then to Salley, SC where she worked as a Medicaid contractor. While living in New York Thembi became Muslim.
Thembi is preceded in passing by her two sisters Felicia Wiggins and Debra Ford; Aunts Anna Mae Bobian and Hilda Williams; brothers James Wiggins and Michael Washington
Those left to cherish the memories of the life of Thembi Chalmers are parents Tommy and Dorothy Chalmers of Sheldon, SC; an aunt Judy Mutuha of Zimbabwe, Africa; sisters Jean Thurmond of Salley, SC, Chanae Jones of North, SC, Monae Jones of North Carolina, and Cynthia Wiggins of Salley, SC; a brother Craig Wiggins of Salley, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, coworkers and loving friends.
There will be a graveside service for Ms. Thembi on Sunday, July 12, 11 AM at the Swedenburg Gunter cemetery, Wagener SC.
