Shannon Black Obituary

Mr. Shannon Lamont Black was born on September 10, 1975 in Lexington, S.C., and departed this earth on April 9, 2024, after a brief illness. He was the son of Peggie Patrice Black (Marcus) and the late Handy Devon Davis.

Mr. Black graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1994.  During his time at Lexington High School he played on both the football and the wrestling team.

Shannon was baptized at an early age at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. His favorite scripture was 2 Corinthians 6:9 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the lord. For we live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.

Shannon was well loved and an all-around good person with a heart of gold. He was a skilled brick mason. He was employed at Saluda Hill Landscapes, where he was a truck driver. Shannon was a big sports fan, with his favorite teams being The Washington Commanders, and The Carolina Gamecocks. He loved his daughter, granddaughter, mother, father, and grandmother dearly.

He was proceeded in death by his father Davon Davis, his brother Allen Dreher, grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his loving mother Peggie P. Black Talley (Marcus), one daughter Kiela Black, one granddaughter Ania Watson, one sister Katrina Webb, grandmother Rebecca Walker, aunts - Sharon Caldwell, Gloria Holman, Iva (Nathaniel) Harpe, LaDean Holman, Zenola (Anthony) Holman-Malone, Evelyn Green, Barbara (Robert) Kilgore, Rozena (Paul) Henry, uncles- Todd (Tonia) Walker, Forress Walker, Curtis (Sandra) Talley, two special cousins Curley and Helen Black, and a host of great aunts, great uncles, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.
