Mildred “Mill” Abney Chandler, daughter of the late Frankie Abney Sr. and the Late Bertha Quattlebaum Abney, was born in Aiken County on July 24, 1942. She was lifted from her earthly body on Saturday, September 12th, 2020 to be with her heavenly father.
Mildred, a lifetime resident of Aiken, County, SC, attended the public schools of Aiken County. Mildred was a member of Ocean Grove Baptist Church, where she served faithfully on the usher board until her health began to fail.
Mildred was married to the late Raymond Chandler, Sr., and to this union she was blessed to have 8 children.
Mildred was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother first and foremost. She cherished her children and grandchildren and embraced every moment of life. She had a very contagious smile that was sure to light up a room and added comfort for your heart. With her gracious touch she made an impact on all those who knew her and will truly be missed.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Chandler, Sr., one son Robert Milhouse, two sisters Irene Watson and Nell Abney; three brothers Andrew Abney, Frankie Abney, Jr. and Willie Abney.
Mildred leaves to cherish her fond memories one son Raymond Chandler, Jr. of the home.; six daughters Sadie(Earnest) Danley, Mary Kinard, Gloria Chandler, Elaine(Alvin) Gleaton, Victoria(Wade) Friday all of Salley, SC and Shirley (Chris) Staley of Springfield, SC. One brother James Abney of Aiken and three sisters Willie Dell Pickett of Jacksonville, NC, Victoria Burrell of Tampa, FL, Clara(Ronnie) Thomas of Aiken, SC. Four sister in-laws Sadie Counts and Ida Mae Landy of Aiken, SC and Olia Mae Chandler and Dianne Chandler of Salley, SC. Five brother in-laws Douglas(Rose) Chandler of Emporium, VA, Randolph(Eliza) Chandler of Salley, SC, Roscoe(Diane) Chandler of Aiken, SC Rudolph Chandler of Columbia, SC and Robert(Deborah) Chandler of Fort Washington, MD. 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mildred had a very special niece and caregiver Fantasia Chandler who she loved very dearly.
