Mr. Lewis Tyler, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James (Mary) Tyler, was born on December 2, 1944.
Lewis, age 76, departed this life on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at his residence in Salley, South Carolina.
Lewis attended the public schools of Aiken County, and graduated from A. L. Corbitt School.
At an early age Lewis became a member of the Sardis Missionary Baptist Church of Salley, South Carolina.
Lewis was a veteran of the United States Army. He served three tours in Vietnam. During his career with the army Lewis was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge, and the Sharpshooter Badge (Rifle).
After serving in the military, Lewis joined the workforce. He was employed with the United States Postal Service and later became an entrepreneur. He owned and operated Tyler’s Cleaning Service. The successful Business was in operation until his health started to decline, which is when Lewis returned to Salley after closing the business.
“Eack” as he was known by his family, was an avid baseball fan. His favorite team was the Chicago Cubs.
Lewis was married to the late Anna Margaret Stroman, and to this union a son, Darren, was born.
Preceding Lewis in death were his parents James and Mary Tyler, his wife Anna Margaret Stroman-Tyler, a brother Henry Tyler and two brothers-in-law, Linberg Odem and Edward “Bub” Stroman.
Lewis leaves a host of family members and friends to cherish his memories; a loving and devoted son, Darren Tyler; three sisters Doris Ware, Margaret Mells, and Nettie Odom; three brothers-in-law Truman (Betsy Ann) Stroman, Sherman Stroman, and Ralph (Vivian) Stroman; two sisters-in-law Ruby Felder and Lorine Tyler, and a host of loving nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.
