Joann Jackson Wooden was born on December 18, 1945 in Orangeburg County to the late Alfred and Willer Jackson. On October 26, 2021 Joann gained her wings and departed from earth. She was a devoted wife to Curtis Wooden Jr. for 52 years.
During Joann’s early life she attended Orangeburg County Schools. She was a member of Flora Branch Baptist Church and a longtime choir member of Flora Baptist Church Inspirational choir, also was a devoted server of the kitchen committee. After dedicating her time to being an extraordinary wife and mother, Mrs Wooden decided to re-enter the work force by working at Wagener Manufacturing Company for many years. She retired from Osborn's Cleaners after many years of service.
Joann preceded in death by one son James D. Wooden; two grandsons Joshua J. Wooden and James D. Wooden Jr.; six brothers, Walter, Lethonian “JK”, Athel, Carnell, John Jackson & James “JE” Fogle; four sisters, O’Jetter Brannum, Lillian Gaines, Willa M. Robinson and Jessie M. Milhouse.
Joann was survived by her loving husband Curtis Wooden Jr.; her loving and devoted daughter Renee (Brandon) Williams; a supportive mother-in-law Alwillie Wooden; sister-in-laws Christa Belll Fulmer, Debra Maze, Eartha-Dean James, Helen Jackson, Leatha M. Jackson, Margaret Jackson, and Vera Lucus; Step-Sister Karien Pough; Brother-in-laws Donnie (Bernetha) Wooden, Eddie L. Wooden, Ronnie (Sennia) Wooden and Willie B. Robinson; Grandchildren, De’Andrea “Shawn” Youmans, Lakeyta Massie, Shanelle Wooden, Alexis R. Williams, and Brandon Williams, Jr.; a Great Grandson Amir J. Mickens and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who all dearly loved her.
