Geneva Gantt Benjamin

Geneva Gantt Benjamin was born on March 8, 1920 to the late Leroy Gantt and Ludella Hankerson Gantt in Aiken County, SC. She was the second of eight children and was preceded in death by her parents and her six brothers; Henry, Haskell, Ulysses, Roosevelt, Leroy Jr, and Rudolph Gantt.
She was a lifelong member of Saron Baptist Church and served faithfully in many ministries including the Senior Choir, Kitchen Committee, and Deaconess. Because of her exceptional faith, she worshiped continuously with the Congregations of Chalk Hill and Smyrna Baptist Churches.
Mrs. Benjamin had a strong work ethic. She worked for many years for the Blizzard family and retired from the South Carolina Public School System after 28 years service. Her passion was baking her award winning cakes which were legendary in the Wagener area. She and her husband had a strong commitment to education and instilled that in their children.
On November 8, 1936, she was joined in holy matrimony to the late Arthur Benjamin, Sr. To this union six children were born. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters; Ms. Jerutha Benjamin of Salley, Mrs. Fransena (Artis) McCutcheon of Lawton, OK and four sons; Arthur (Valerie) Benjamin, Jr. of Hollis, NY; Eugene (Rebecca) Benjamin of Queens, NY; James (Barbara) Benjamin of Beltsville, MD; and Pastor Rubin (Nancy) Benjamin of Novi, MI; three children that she nurtured as her own; Wilson, Marsha, and Melissa Blizzard; one sister Evelyn Williams; one sister-in-law Barbara Gantt; fourteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Additionally, there are special children; Rosa, Phillip, Luellen, Dorothy, Randy and Anthony Kitching.

Mrs. Geneva Gantt Benjamin passed away at Aiken Regional Medical Center on March 29th, 2016.

Visitation will be held at Blizzard Funeral Home, Wagener, SC, on Saturday, April 2nd, 2016 from the hours of 2pm-4pm.

A Wake/Visitation will be held at Saron Baptist Church, Wagener, SC on Saturday, April 2nd, 2016 from 5pm - 8pm.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, April 3rd 2:30pm, 2016 at Saron Baptist Church, 352 Railroad Ave. W, Wagener, SC, 29164.

Committal will be held at Swedenburg-Gunter Cemetery located on Seivern Road, Wagener, SC following the service.
There will be a repast at Saron Baptist Church following the committal service.

Family and friends may visit the families residence to offer there support and condolences.
