Fredrick Jerome Price

We are sad to announce the death of Fredrick Jerome Price, age 76, who passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones at Hospice House of the Piedmont in High Point, NC on Friday, April 21, 2023 after a brief illness. Fred (Jerome) was born in Greensboro, North Carolina on June 11, 1946. He graduated from Dudley High School in 1964 and attended Guilford Technical Institute majoring in Machinery.

Fred (Jerome) loved working in the yard planting flowers & mowing the lawn which looked like a golf course, which was his passion. He loved sitting outside while drinking his tea with nature & feeding the birds. Some of the birds would even walk up and eat out of his hands, this was his daily routine. He also loved fishing and would sit in the boat for hours sometimes never catching anything but it was the peace of sitting on the water and watching the sunrays reflect off the water. He loved fast cars especially his Black Bandit Trans-AM. He was a fun loving person who never met a stranger and showed love to everyone. He spread laughter, joy & fun wherever he went. He impacted a lot of hearts! Fred (Jerome) we will miss you very much and you will always be in our hearts.

He was predeceased by his parents Romie Price & Marion Tonkins Price, his Aunt Ollie Tonkins and his brothers Marcellous Watts, Michael Price, Bill Jerald and his sister Betty Rose Jerald.

Fred leaves behind his wife Mary Jordan Price of 45 years, a son Kevin J. Price (Michelle) of Chapel Hill, NC. Three daughters, Tanya Ford of Winston-Salem, NC; RaKeshia Melton (Jeff) of Greensboro, NC; Shante Price of High Point, NC and Shonda Herbin of Greensboro, NC.  Four brothers, Van Price of Greensboro, NC; Kenneth Jordan (Veronica) of Wagener, SC; Darryl Jordan (Connie) of Aiken, SC and Bryan Jordan (LaKecia) of North Augusta, SC.  Four sisters, Sandra Wharton of Greensboro, NC; Marietta Puryear (Thomas) of Greensboro, NC; Rev.Teresa Felder of Wagener, SC and Brenda Jordan Outen of Charlotte, NC. Special sisters & brothers Kurt & Janis Summers of Brown Summit, NC; William & Diresa Warren of McLeansville, NC; George Turner of Eden, NC. Special mother Betty Graves of McLeansville, NC. He also had 8 grandchildren Zachary Price of New Hampshire, Julian Price of Greensboro, NC; Kailyn Price of Arlington, VA; Cameria Price, Azariah Price & Ethan Price, Gizma Price (grand dog) of High Point, NC; Asia Simpson & Ahmad Womack of Greensboro, NC and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins & Friends. 

To honor Fred’s memory, we are holding a celebration of life on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Hargett Funeral Home Chapel, 905 E. Market Street in Greensboro, NC. Visitation will be Friday, May 5th at 12:00pm – 5:00pm and again on Saturday morning at 11:30am – 12:00pm. We invite anyone who knew him to attend and remember his life. We ask attendees to wear bright colors.

 Fred will be laid to rest with a Service on Sunday, May 7th in Wagener, SC at Baughmanville Baptist Church, 125 Baughmanville Rd, Wagener, SC 29164 with Pastor Otis Kitchings Officiating. JH Robinson Funeral Home, 190 Railroad Street West in Wagener, SC, 29164 will be in charge of the burial.
