Dorothy Gantt Green, daughter of the late Merland and Ruth Gantt, transitioned on September 6, 2021 at the age of 90.
Dorothy was born on August 14, 1931 in Washington, DC. She was married for 53 years to Samuel L. Green Sr, who preceded her in death in 2007. She had one son, Samuel L Green Jr. They lived in Washington, DC until the mid 70's before returning to Salley, South Carolina.
Dorothy joined Baughmanville Baptist Church at an early age, where she served faithfully until her health failed. She was Mother of the Church and a member of the Eastern Stars.
Dorothy was a seamstress and mended many a piece of clothing. She lived by the motto: a penny saved is a penny earned. She would go to the Women's Well to enjoy the fellowship and snacks. The pandemic ended all of this. She turned to crocheting and watching old TV shows.
Dorothy was preceded in passing by her brothers Lurmon Gantt and Merland Gantt Jr., and her sisters Ruthie Lee Gantt and Bernice Guyton.
Those left to cherish the memories of her life are her son, Samuel Green Jr. (Margje); Grandchildren Samuel III, Tyrone, Nicky (Naia), Nicole (Jarren), Octavia, Sirena, and Anthony (Monique), A host of great and great great grandchildren, her brother Clinton Gantt and sister Clote Davis (Bill), and a host of nieces, nephews, a God-daughter Letitia Renee Gantt, and a special friend Marti Meredith.
