Deloris Smith Avent, daughter of the late Joe Clinton Smith and Elewese Dorns Smith departed from this life peacefully on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Lexington Medical Center, Lexington, SC.
Deloris graduated from Ridge Hill in 1968 and worked as a Breakfast Manager at Hardees for over 15 years. She left Hardees and began a career with Tri-Development in Aiken, SC. While working at Tri-Development, she began a career with South Carolina Department of Corrections as the Food Service Director for over 30 years until retirement. She joined the Calidonia Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She was an active member of the inspirational choir, pulpit-aide, program committee, and kitchen committee.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband (Alex Quattlebaum Jr.), her son (Andre Avent), her brothers (Vasco Smith and Al Watson), and her sisters (Elizabeth Blocker and Rosanna Stewart).
Deloris leaves behind to cherish her wonderful memories: A daughter, Tarshia (Keith) James of the home; and a son Ronald Smith of Duluth, CA. One Daughter-in-law Clara Avent. Six grandchildren, RaShonda Avent, Karmen James, Jasmine Smith, and Taryn Jones, Marquez Lott, Antione Abner. Four great grandchildren, Trey Abner Jr., Treston Abrer, Demarius Abner, Kyree Abner. Three adopted grandchildren, Kenyen Ligons, Kannan Ligons, Kennedy Ligons. Three goddaughters, Jessica Jackson, Dianne Maddox, and Keisha Ligons. Sisters, Dorotha Abner, Christine Samuels, Brenda (Morris Crute), Betty Smith, and Barbara (Ted) Daye. Brothers, Joe (Annette), Milledge (Elaine) Smith, and Williams (Shaun) Smith. One aunt, Louise James. One uncle, Milledge Darns. In laws, Gerald Quattlebaum, Issac (Patricia) Quattlebaum, Beverly (Eddie) Watson, Judy Garrett, and Shelby Quattlebaum. Special friends: Cheryl Donald and Patricia Thomas, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
