The Life and Times of Dave Ross
A time to Rejoice – Dave Ross was born on August 9, 1947 in Washington, DC to the late Willie Robert Ross & Beatrice Brown Ross.
A time to Plant – Dave accepted God as his personal savior at an early age and became a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.
A time to Live – Dave was educated in the Aiken County Public School System and was a 1967 graduate of A.L. Corbett High School.
In 1968 Dave joined the United States Army. After completing 25 years of service and many tours overseas he retired as a Master Sergeant. After his military service Dave was employed by the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 2006. Admired and still revered by his soldiers, Dave remained close to the 8th Evacuation Hospital Alumni Unit.
Dave relocated to South Carolina and was united in holy matrimony to Shirley Tyler Washington on September 27, 1997.
Building a life in Aiken Dave was a Deacon at Zion Hill Baptist Church. He was known for his generosity and kindness, his cigars and cars, his love of the Washington Redskins (Commanders), and eating at restaurants (tipping generously).
A time to Enjoy – Dave loved his yard, fishing and farming with his brother and driving the 4020 John Deere.
A time to Rest – Dave left his body to be present with the Lord on February 27, 2024.
A time to Mourn - The legacy of Dave’s season is left in the hearts and minds of his survivors: his wife of 26 years Shirley Ross; two sons David Jason Ross of Maryland and Bryan Washington of Kaiserslautern, Germany; two daughters, Marina Ross-Augustine (Henry) of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and Krista McMillon (William) of Columbia, South Carolina; one brother Deacon Marvin Ross of Aiken, South Carolina; one sister Virginia Justice of Aiken, South Carolina, and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and extended relatives and friends.
