On Saturday, August 22, 2020 The Hand of the Almighty reached out his divine love as he made his visit at Lexington Medical Hospital in West Columbia, South Carolina to claim on of his own Cora B. Johnson (Big Ma), who responded with joy. She had fought a good fight and gladly accepted the invitation to go home and continue her life with the Lord.
December 6, 1932 The skies opened up and gave birth to a precious angel Cora B. (Big Ma) Johnson. She was a loving, caring daughter to the late Myra J. (Grannie) Snipes and the late Boyd Jackson Sr. She devoted her life to taking care of her mother, father, and 4 siblings. She worked her entire life to take care of the ones around her. In her younger days, she attended school in Springfield, South Carolina at Union Academy where she walked 9 miles everyday to get an education.
In 1953 Cora met the man of her dreams, John R. (J-Boy) Johnson who she joined in Holy matrimony and to this union two daughter and one son was born.
At an early age she was guided by the Angels to join the Smyrna Baptist Church where she was baptized and was a servant of God until he called her home. She was a faithful member of the choir and kitchen committee. She held the role as Choir President along slide her late husband and daughter. Cora was the backbone and glue that kept this family together. She took care of everyone, she did everything for everybody. She will be so truly missed and will be celebrated and forever loved.
Cora leaves to cherish her memories: 1 daughter; Maria Johnson of Columbia, SC; 1 son John (Rhonda) Robertson of Beach Island, SC; one granddaughter Myeisha Johnson of the home Salley, SC; 1 Godson Matthew Armstrong of Williston, SC; 4 great-grandchildren; Mya Landy and My’Kell Landy of Wagener, SC, Johron Robertson and Jounri Robertson of Beach Island, SC, a special great grandson Carter Williams of the home, Salley, SC.
Cora was preceded in death by her husband, John Johnson; mother, Myra Milhouse Snipes; three brothers, one sister Cora J. (Teena Ma) Robertson, 5 sister in laws, and three brother in laws.
