Alma Dunbar Obituary

Alma Orean Lloyd also known as “Red” or “Salley Cat”, daughter of late Willie and Margaret Lloyd born May 27,1930. Gained her wings March 11, 2022. Married to the love of her life the late David Dunbar.

During her earlier years Mrs. Dunbar attended Schofield High School. At an early age she joined Jerusalem Branch Baptist Church. During her faithful years of membership, she served on the kitchen committee, Women’s Auxiliary and Senior Choir. She attended church faithfully and always made sure to coordinate her outfits with a matching hat. Always by her side was her loving husband and chauffeur, David.

She married the love of her life, David Dunbar on April 12, 1974. Through the years, Mrs. Dunbar held several jobs including a hard-working housekeeper for several families. She and her husband later opened their very own business, D & A Service Station in Salley, SC which they operated for over 25 years. They decided to semi retire and then opened D and A Country Store which was right in their front yard.

Mrs. Dunbar loved the outdoors, she enjoyed planting flowers in her flower bed or attending to her Azaleas. She also loved to care for her family. She found joy always in the kitchen cooking and she never failed to hum a tune the entire time. You could often catch her sitting in her recliner, watching her favorite soap operas with one of her great grands on her lap. She was famous for wearing her signature fragrance, White Diamonds perfume. And Anything she said she was going to do, SHE DID.

She preceded to death by her parents, husband David Dunbar, daughter Betty Smith, brother Phillip Lloyd, and sister Doris Lloyd. Those left to cherish her precious memories are, brothers Joseph Lloyd (Marion), Willie Lloyd Jr. (Bertha); sister Connie Jones; Granddaughters, Taunya Swedenburg (Willie), Sonya Smith Mckenzie (Dante); Great-grandchildren Jerel Swedenburg, Taunija Swedenburg, Oriana Smith, Tayvon Mckenzie, Makaijah Walker; Great-Great Grand Jaceon Swedenburg, and host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and many friends.
