Willie Mae Samuel Hughey was the 11th and last surviving child of the late Joe L. and Hannah Steadman Samuel.  She was born on July 30, 1934, in Aiken County, SC, and departed this life on June 24, 2024, at MUSC in Columbia, SC.

Willie Mae sought the lord at a early age and became a member of Saron Baptist Church.  She was educated in the public schools of Aiken County, SC.

Willie Mae Samuel was wed in Holy Matrimony to Thomas D. Hughey on October 31, 1955.  To this unio they were blessed with 8 children.

Willie Mae was preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas, son Thomas Jr., one daughter Carolyn Elaine, all her siblings, 1 sister-in-law, aunts and uncles.

Willie Mae leaves to cherish the memories of her life are her loving children, William Hughey, Mary Hughey, Martha McGaughey, Anthony Hughey, Alvin Hughey all of Columbia, SC, and Reginald (Kenia) Hughey of Mount Plymouth Fla.  Five generations of family to include 26 grands, 59 great grands, 6 great-great grands, sister's-in-law Barbara Nicholas of Columbia, SC, Betty (Reverend George) Smith of Wagener, SC; Brother-in-law Robert Hughey from New Jersey, and Kerry Hughey of North, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
