Mr. Walter Harley Jr., a son of the late Walter Harley and Sarah Williams, was born in Saluda County, South Carolina August 11, 1933. He departed this earthly life Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Aiken Regional, Aiken, South Carolina after a short illness. He received his education in the South Carolina public schools system. At an early age, he joined Chinquapin Baptist Church. Later, he joined the Calidonia Baptist Church serving as a member of the Senior Choir and Trustee Board. He was also a member of the Eastern Star. Walter later met and married the late Mary Watson of 52 years. He was a devoted husband and loving and caring father and grandfather who loved his family dearly. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Ann Watson and two sisters, Mattie Lue Harper and Gertrude Harley. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves to honor and celebrate his life: his four sons, Al Watson, Terry (Elberta) Harley and Steven (Stephanie) Harley all of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina and James (Yolanda) Harley of North Augusta; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; five brothers-in-law and six sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.

Service Information

The family will be receiving visitors for a viewing of Mr. Harley Jr on April 5, 2014 from 3-7pm at J.H. Robinson Funeral Home, 190 Railroad Ave, Wagener, SC. A Going Home service will be held the following day, April 6th at 2:00pm at Caledonia Baptist Church, 1887 Old 96 Indian Trail, Batesburg, SC.
