Vincent Richard
Tobin
September 30, 1956 – May 10, 2026
Vincent Richard Tobin
Vincent “Vint” Richard Tobin, 69, entered into eternal rest at his home on the afternoon of May 10, 2026. He was born on September 30, 1956, in Aiken County, South Carolina to the late Boyd Tobin and Liler Mae (Jackson) Tobin and reared in Wagener, South Carolina. He grew up in the Aiken County school system, beginning his early education at A. L. Corbett Elementary and graduating from Wagener Salley High School.
As a young man, he proudly served his country in the United States Army from the summer of 1974 until September 7, 1981, achieving the rank of Sargent. He carried with him a deep sense of duty and honor throughout his life. A few of his accolades while serving in the U. S. Army, includes the National Defense Service Medal, good conduct medal, marksman badge bars for the M-16 rifle and grenade, and leadership recognition. Though he rarely spoke about his service to his country, those closest to him knew how much it meant to him to have served alongside his fellow soldiers.
Vincent believed in living honestly, helping quietly, and appreciating life’s small blessings. He was known for his steady presence, gentle humor, and the kindness that asked for nothing in return. Whether teaching others about the land and sowing seeds, educating the youth about the elders and our history, or just sitting quietly at sunset, he found joy in these simple but meaningful moments. Vincent love for hunting, fishing, nature walks, and love of nature were some of his many hobbies.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents, and eldest brother, Jeffrey Benjamin Tobin. He is survived by the love of his life, Katherine Mack; his daughter Teresa (Keegan) Wright and grandchildren, Kira and Kole Wright; 3 sisters, Gertrude Handy of Stone Mountain, Georgia; Randa Tobin and Shirley Milhouse of Wagener, South Carolina; 4 brothers, Rudolph Tobin of Washington D.C; Earl (Luemisher) Tobin of Wagener, South Carolina; Melvin Tobin of Little Rock, Arkansas; and Harvey (Juanita) Isaac of Marrietta, Georgia. He leaves a host of nieces and nephews, numerous cousins, and many dear friends who will miss his calm spirit and unwavering love. Vincent’s life was not measured by wealth or recognition, but by the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the garden he left blooming behind him.
