Vanita Louise Wise was born in Lexington County, South Carolina on July 29, 1944, to the late Willie Oscar and Marayal Lites Wise. She departed this earthly life on Monday, June 15, 2026, at her home in Lexington, SC.

She was predeceased by sisters-in-law, Juanita Hendrix, Frankie Mae Curtis, Eunice Thornton, and Survernia ‘Bunny’ Smith; brothers-in-law, Sherrill Harris and Ulysses Wise.

Louise was educated in the public schools of Lexington School District One and graduated from Lexington Rosenwald High School. She attended Allen University. Her employment career included many years in manufacturing and the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control at the Lexington County Health Department where she retired.

Louise was a committed member of Spring Hill African Methodist Episcopal Church and served faithfully in many capacities. She was one of the earliest female members of the Trustee Board, served on the Finance Committee, Burial Committee, Stewardess Board, Columbia Area Women’s Missionary Society as historiographer-statistician, local Women’s Missionary Society as a distinguished treasurer, founding member of the Reeves-Allen Gospel Choir, member of the Sunday School where she ordered the Sunday School Quarterly, member of the Culinary Committee, the Good Neighbor Club as flavor sales agent, and ordered flowers for church occasions.

Louise relished delicious desserts, and baking pies was her specialty. She was an enthusiastic sports fan and enjoyed watching her favorite teams.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her loving husband of 62 years, James Luther Wise; devoted sisters, Shirley Harris and Barbara Anderson Wright; godson, Tionfilo Wright; raised as a daughter, Brooke Dollarson (Jonathan); sisters-in-law, Evelyn Davis, Lucille Hester, and Vivian Younginer (Larry); grandchildren, Ava Watts, Rhys Dollarson; special niece, Alona Amor Wright; special nephew, Shamar Wright; many devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives; special friends, David, Jeri and Jonathan Grobe, and dear friends who will greatly miss her.
