Mr. Sylvester Ray, son of the Late Eugene Ray and the Late Rebecca Ashley Ray, was born on December 27, 1955 in Orangeburg County South, Carolina.  He peacefully transitioned to his new resting place on September 27, 2023.

Sylvester attended the public schools of Lexington County, South Carolina.

Sylvester worked all of his adult life as a painter.

Sylvester was preceded in passing by three brothers, Claude Ray, Richard Ray and Morris Ray.

Those left to cherish the life of Sylvester Ray includes his four daughters; Kristina English, Desiree Battle, Rashonda Battle, and Michelle Battle; one son Shaquille Ray; two sisters Mary Ray of Columbia, SC, and Janie Middleton of Pelion, South Carolina; Three brothers Eugene Frank Ray of Ciolumbia, South Carolina, Nathaniel Ray of Columbia, South Carolina, and Amos (Lorine) Ray of Georgia; Two sisters-in-law Barbara Ray of Pelion, South Carolina, and Harriette Ray of Swansea, South Carolina; Nine grands, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and loved ones.

Funeral Services for Mr. Ray will be on Thursday October 5, 2023, at 2PM.  The services will be held at Darian Baptist Church in Pelion, SC.
