Sarah Hampton Rawls Dean Obituary Sarah Hampton Rawls Dean moved on to her heavenly home on September 8th 2012 after a brief illness. Sarah was born February 9th, 1928 in Lexington, South Carolina, to the late Elliott and Isabelle Rawls. She earned a degree in teaching from Allen University in Columbia, South Carolina. Sarah spent more than 30 years in Connecticut inspiring young students to learn as a kindergarten and first grade teacher in the Hartford Public School system. After retiring from a long and respected career as an educator Sarah eventually settled in San Diego, California. Sarah leaves to cherish her precious memories Leon Dean, her husband of 59 years, a son Oscar and his wife Heidi of Newington, CT, a daughter Alicia Dean of Austin, TX, sisters Doris King of Columbia, SC, Juanita Walker of Lexington, SC, and a host of loving family members and friends who will miss her dearly. The funeral service will be held 11:00am Saturday, October 6th, 2012 at New Bethel AME Church, 500 South Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072. In lieu of flowers, donations in Memory of Sarah can be made to San Diego Hospice & Center for Palliative Research.

Service Information

FUNERAL SERVICES Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Dean will be held on Saturday, October 6th 2012, 11:00am at New Bethel AME Church located at 500 Southlake Dr, Lexington, South Carolina. Committal services will immediately follow in the New Bethel AME Church Cemetery. The family is would like to invite all family members and friends to visit with them at the repast which will be held in the church dining hall immediately after the committal services.
