Deacon Ronnie Arthur Samuel, the last surviving child of the late Deacon Henry Arthur and Deaconess Albirtha Steadman Samuel was born on July 9, 1925 in Wagener, SC. Ronnie was reared in a Christian Home and accepted Christ as his personal Saviour. At an early age he joined and was baptized at Saron Baptist in 1933 under the leadership of the late Reverend Jim Smith. He attended public schools of Wagener, SC. In 1943 he enlisted in the United States Army during World War II working as Tele-Communication Specialist. He received an honorable discharge in 1946. Ronnie an humble servant of God was united in holy matrimony to Easter Bell Davis on a cold wintery Tuesday, January 27, 1948 (three days short of 70 years of marriage). To this union three children were born. Ronnie and his family migrated to Miami, FL. in 1950. Striving to make a better life for his family, he began working various jobs. In 1952 he gained employment with the Brewer Company of Florida retiring, after 30 years of employment. Ronnie joined New Providence Baptist Church. He was ordained as a Deacon by the late Reverend C.J. Burney. At New Providence he was a Ward Leader, Chairman of Benevolent Offering over 20 years; former president of Male Chorus; attended Sunday School and Prayer Meeting regularly. He was a faithful member and worked wherever deemed necessary. His hobbies and interest included; daily reading of the bible and singing hymns; watching The Word and Bobby Jones Gospel (all reruns); Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy on television. He spent a lot of time with his grands/great grands; also questioning others of their knowledge of the Bible (how many words, how many books in the Old and New Testament, etc.) He took great pride in hearing their responses. On Wednesday morning, January 24, 2018 in his room the Lord called him to eternal rest. Those who will miss him dearly to cherish his memory, his devoted and loving wife, Easter; a caring and devoted daughter, Kathleen; grands, Sherri. Ronald (Tiffany), Brittaney and Ronnikka; great-grands, Albert, Kaila, Anthony, Gensis, Heaven, Andrew, Ayana; devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Rejoicing at the Gates of Heaven: parents, Henry and Albirtha; sisters, Ruthie Mae & Thelma; brother, Henry Jr.; son, Gary and daughter, Linda.
VISITATION: The family of Mr. Ronnie A. Samuel will be receiving friends and well wishers on Friday, February 2, 2018 during the hours of 6-8 PM at the Saron Baptist Church, 325 Railroad Avenue West Wagener, South Carolina 29164. FUNERAL: Mr. Ronnie A. Samuel will be funeralized at 11 AM on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Saron Baptist Church, 325 Railroad Avenue West Wagener, South Carolina 29164. There will be a final public viewing one hour prior to the services. INTERMENT: The committal services for Mr. Samuel will be held at the Swedenburg-Gunter Cemetery on Seivern Road of Wagener, SC 29164.
