Mr. Preston Pontoo entered into eternal rest on November 19, 2025. He was born on October 15, 1946 in Aiken County, SC to the late Felest Pontoo and Magalene Quattlebaum Pontoo.

Preston was orphaned at a young age and was lovingly taken in by his older brother, Eddie "Bummie" Pontoo, and his devoted sister-in-law, Eartha Dell Pontoo, who raised him as one of their own. Under their care, he completed his education, being drafted to serve in the Vietnam War as a maintenance mechanic repairing a variety of war trucks.

Preston was a 1965 proud graduate of A.L. Corbett High School Lions.

Preston was first married to Dorothy Evans Pontoo, and two daughters were born to this union. He later married Sandra Lawrie Pontoo, who preceded in him death.

After his honorable discharge from the Army, he furthered his skills in mechanics by working for Metro-North Railroad in New Jersey for 36 years. He moved back to South Carolina where he was born.

Along with parents, Preston was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Lawrie Pontoo; his siblings, Earl Pontoo Sr., Effie Mae Ware, Eddie Pontoo, Felest Pontoo, Sr. and Betty Lois Pontoo.

Left to cherish fond and loving memories are his children; Melissa Pontoo (Randy) Horton, Deneese Pontoo (Amos) Robinson, and Pascha Dunn; stepson, Maurice Cleaves; grandchildren, Larry Tyler, Jr., Alexis Robinson, Kizzy Robinson, Jasmine Robinson, Chynna Dunn, Amaya Muldrow, Jeremiah Muldrow, Jr., Jaelynn Muldrow, and Rayshawn Muldrow, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
