Obituary

Mr. Melvin Williams, son of the late Lucielle Landy and the late Ernest Lee Staley, was born on January 28, 1959 and passed on November 6, while being comforted by his family and friends.

Melvin was a lifelong member of the Wagener community.  He was educated in the schools of Aiken County, SC, and he attended Chalk Hill Baptist in Wagener, SC.

Melvin worked at Dixie-Narco of Williston, SC for over 20 years, providing them with dedicated service and gratitude.  He also worked at Graniteville Mill for over 20 years.

Melvin will be remembered as a GREAT guy all around, an avid giver to the community and the church, and full of LOVE and LIFE.

Melvin is proceeded in passing by his parents, his grandparents, Robert and Minnie Landy, his brothers James (Mattie) Williams, Leroy (Salley Mae) Williams, Matthew Landy, Walter Williams, Authur Staley, Louis Staley and his sister Louise McCollough.

Those left to cherish the memories of the life that Melvin lived include his two sons, Mr. Melvin Phillips of Columbia, South Carolina, and Mr. Malcolm Williams of Chapel Hill, South Carolina.  Eight grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a very dear and loving friend Ms. Diane Thompson and grandson C.J. Thompson.

Melvin will be deeply missed by his sisters Deloris Salley, Eartha Lee Robinson, Rosetta Brown, Patricia Ann Jackson, and Burnette (Henry) Peterson all of Wagener, South Carolina, Lucinda Landy and Lavenia (William) Sarpong all of Columbia, SC, Wanda Tyler and Sugar Sugar of Salley, SC; Brothers Jasper (Retha Mae) Williams and Chester (Patricia) Williams of Wagener, South Carolina and Willie Ray Williams of Salley, South Carolina; Sister in law Jeannie (Matthew) Landy and Elaine (Authur) Staley; Brother in law Bobby  Neal (Deloris) Salley, Raymon Lee (Rosetta) Brown, and Fulmond (Patricia Ann) Jackson, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many many friends.
