IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Maurice Allison
Thomas
November 5, 1957 – January 2, 2024
It was Tuesday, November 5, 1957, that the late Rufus and Rosie Otts Thomas were blessed with their first son. They named him Maurice Allison Thomas. He would continue to mature and grow and be blessed by his family and the New Holland Community of Wagener, SC.
He was active in church at Baughmanville and Chalk Hill Baptist Churches and was baptized at Chalk Hill. In Atlanta he was an associate member of New Birth Church. He began his education at the A.L. Corbett Elementary School, graduating in 1976 from Wagener-Salley High School. During his high school years, he participated in sports, and he was the Senior Class President. Upon high school graduation he entered Prairie View A & M University, Prairie View, Texas. He received a BS degree in Business Administration and was commissioned into the United States Marine Corps, reaching the status of Captain.
After leaving the military, Maurice began his career as a Reliable Engineer at General Motors, Detroit Michigan. He later moved to Atlanta and began to work in a supervisory role with the Atlanta Ambassadors and also with Mid-Town Blue. Upon retiring he moved back to his homesite. He loved being involved in home improvement projects. You could offer suggestions, but he had to do it the way he thought it should be done. Usually, the projects came out better than the suggestions! We know he has stock in "Home Depot" because that was a weekly routine. He had to visit "Home Depot."
He and his cousin Vangie frequently visited shoppes of all kinds looking for home improvement ideas and he would converse with her in great discussions about Biblical literature and various scriptures.
Maurice is survived by his siblings, Evergrace (Calvin), Patricia, Danny (Mary), Edith, Jonathan, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Our memories will build a special bridge to help us feel we're with him still and sooth our grieving hearts.
