Ms. Mattie Mae Ross, daughter of the late Susie Mae Ross English and Benjamin Ray, was born in Lexington County SC on December 3, 1949 and departed this life on July 9, 2022.

Mattie received her education in the Lexington County school system. She was a member of Pelion High School, class of 1969.  Mattie was a life long member of Darian Baptist Church until her untimely death. She was a former member of the gospel choir and served on the pulpit aide for many years.  Mattie worked for 20 plus years for Lexington County School District One, at Pelion High School until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by both parents; siblings, Donnell English, Terry English, Catherine English, Bennie Ray, James Ray, and Ronald Ray.

Those left to cherish her memories are a loving daughter, Michelle Ross; six sisters; Eartha Ross, Con-nie English, Shirley Durham, Elouise English, Esther (Marion) Ray Jackson, and Carolyn (Ronald) Ray Brown.; Eight brothers, Leroy (Linda) English, Maxie English, Christopher English, Charles Ray, Roger (Velma) Ray, Harry Ray, Billy Jean Ray, and Clyde (Maxine) Hart; One aunt, Lois Ross Jones.  One special friend, Marjorie Davis ,and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends

Funeral services for Mattie will be held on Saturday July 16th 12:00 noon at Darian Baptist Church, Pelion, SC.  The viewing for Mattie will be held on Friday July 15 from 2 to 6 pm at the J.H. Robinson Funeral Home, Wagener, SC.
