Obituary

Mary Samuels was born on February 9, 1926 to the late Sam and Laura Wallace.She was educated in the schools of Adamsville County located in South Carolina.She accepted Christ as her personal savior at a young age and attended St. Paul AME Church in Adamsville,South Carolina. She left South Carolina at an early age and relocated to New York City. After many years of being a domestic worker, she changed her profession to become a Lab Technician at Cornell University Hospital where she retired in 1990. She joined St.John AME Church in the early 80`s where she served faithfully on different boards and organizations within the church until she relocated in August of 1990 to Pasadena,MD with her daughter and son-in-law There she joined Halls United Methodist Church where she served in many capacities and wore many different hats in the church. She joined Pascal Senior Citizen Center shortly after moving to MD where she became more proficient at sewing,learned to oil paint and working with a canvas, and doing many other activities. She received high accolades for many of her paintings which was displayed at the local mall. Again she relocated to Lexington,S.C. with her family in October of 2006 where she joined SpringHill AME Church shortly after arriving. She immediately started working in the church. She joined the Pastor`s Aide Club,she became a member of the Senior and Mass Choirs,the Women`s Ministry and did anything that she was asked to do. She faithfully attended Sunday School and Bible Study until her health began to fail. She was preceded in death by her son John Wallace.She is survived by her daughters; Annette Benjamin Burgess(Willie),Delores McWilliams(Milton),Juanita Edmunds, Eugenia Johnson and her son Jerome Wallace(Sandra), 14 grandchildren,25 great-grandchildren and 11 great great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Service Information

Mary departed this life at the age of 90 years old on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Lexington Medical Center after a long illness. She was comforted by her daughter and granddaughter. There will be a public viewing held for Mary Samuels on Friday, April 29, 2016 at J.H.Robinson Funeral Home; 701 Hendrix Street, Lexington, S.C. 29072. Funeral Service For Mary Samuels will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 2 p.m. at SpringHill AME Church; 228 WindyHill Court, Gilbert, S.C. 29054. Mary`s body will be placed in the church an hour prior to the service.
