Mae Frances James, daughter of the late James Vernel Watson and Mary Lee Merritt, was born on May 6, 1955 and transitioned to her new home on January 27, 2021.

Mae born in Aiken County South Carolina and attended the schools of Aiken County, graduating from Wagener Salley High School.

Mae was preceded in passing by her son Gregory Levon James, Step Father Benjamin  F. James. Sister JoEtta, Brothers Elmore, Alvin and JW Harley.

She leaves to cherish the memory of her life a grandson, Davon M. Green of Swansea, SC; two great grandchildren Ni'Asia and Aden both of Columbia; seven sisters Anitha Heath of Aiken, SC, Ann Perry of Norway, SC, Florean (Henry) Harley of Columbia, SC, Gladys James of Gaston, SC, Hykema Dominique Jenkins of Atlanta, GA, Valerie Walker of Columbia, SC and Ola Mae Nicholas, Aiken, SC; three brothers, Jimmie (Celeste) Merritt, Searcy James, of Aiken, SC, Calvin (Alyce) Landy of West Columbia, SC; Four aunts Juanita Jordan, Burnette Peterson, Elizabeth Peterson, Esqueen Smith, Deloris (Jimmie) Young; Six uncles Jerry Merritt, Jean Ray Merritt, Henry Peterson, Jerome Merritt; Pernell Peterson, and J.W Peterson; God Daughter Denetra Robbins, Special nieces and nephews Stacey Hickson, Chris Merritt, Capaul James, Chandra Ross, Pamela Pralow, Shaketria Palmer, Maurice Merritt, other family members and friends.
