God saw she was getting tired.

And a cure was not to be,

So He put His arms around her

With tearful eyes we watched her suffer

And saw her fade away,

Although we loved her dearly

We could not make her stay

A golden heart stopped beating

Hard working hands to rest,

God broke our hearts to Prove to us

He only takes the best.

Kate Serena Jones went home on September 29, 2020.

Kate was born in Lexington, SC on January 26, 1934 to the late Oscar Josepheus, Sr. and Mrs. Kate Rivers Wise. She was the wife of the late Oscar Jones Sr. Kate Serena was blessed with seven children: four sons, Winston (Hannelore) Wise of Carey, NC, Charles (Patricia) Jones of Tampa, FL, Timothy (Elaine) Jones of Charlotte, NC, and Oscar (Ursula) Jones Jr. of Atlanta, GA.; three daughters, Sheryl (James) Gooden of San Diego, CA, Kathy Jones (deceased), and Sandra (David) Whitehurst of Richmond, VA. She had a total of 17 grandchildren including Antron Jones Jr. and LaQuanda Faison who she raised when their mother Kathy passed away, 26 great -grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews. Kate Serena grew up spending summers with her siblings and numerous cousins in Lexington, SC. Her family included 2 brothers - Oscar Josepheus, RIchard Marion, and 3 sisters - Margaret, Annie Mae, and Lillian.

Kate sang in the choir at New Bethel AME church, and formed a singing group with cousins Lucy and Eunice. She moved to Tampa, FL. and married her husband, Oscar Jones Sr. Her life was absolutely devoted to her family.
