Joycie Mae Quattlebaum, the daughter of the late Alex Quattlebaum and Dorothy Quattlebaum Sr., was born May 5, 1945. She entered her rest on March 31, 2014. In addition to her parents, three brothers and one sister also preceded Joycie in death.
Joycie was baptized at an early age at Smyrna Baptist Church. Joycie was a devoted mother and big sister and friend to many family members and friends. She loved and nurtured many with good food (especially her red velvet cake).
She leaves to cherish her fond memories: her devoted daughter, Deirdre Quattlebaum; three granddaughters: Jai'Bria Quattlebaum, Anniedria Ravell, Kniodria Quattlebaum of Aiken, South Carolina; three brothers: Gerald Quattlebaum of Wagener, South Carolina; Isaac (Patricia) Quattlebaum of Salley, SC; Shelby (Erin) of Augusta, GA; two sisters: Beverly (Eddie) Watson of Batesburg, SC; Judy Garrett of Columbia, SC; two aunts: Salley Harris of Jacksonville, FL; Anna Maude Turner of North Augusta, SC; two sister-in-laws: Jenny Quattlebaum of Salley, SC and Deloris Quattlebaum of Batesburg, SC; nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
If Joycie Mae could speak, she would say: "Please do not remember my bad days, only remember me at my best. Never talk of me as gone..for God saw that I needed rest. My bad got weak and tired, I fought hard to carry on but my Father said, 'No more, my child, it's time to take you home.' I felt no pain at all, my heart gave way with ease and I met my Master! I'm proud to say, He was pleased! I fought a hard fighting battle, one I finally won, and with my Father now, my journey has just begun. So, do not weep and moan, instead my loved ones, rejoice! My life was not suddenly interrupted...Eternity was my choice."
