Obituary

Mr. Jovlyn Ezekiel Furtick, the son of The late Mr. Isaac Ezekiel Thomas and Mrs. Patsy Furtick Fulmer. Jovlyn was born on January 7th, 1983 in Augusta, Georgia. He was educated in the public schools of Colleton County, SC and graduated from Corner Stone Christian Correspondence School on September 15th, 2000. He served in the United States Army and was injured in Operation Iraqi Freedom in March 2005. He was honorably discharged with awards and decorations. He was a member of Mt. Nebo A.M.E. Church in Adams Run, SC, where he was a member of the YPD church school and the youth choir. He entered into holy matrimony with Genise Beckett Furtick on July 12th, 2009. This union was blessed with two daughters, Karizma and Karima Furtick. He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving wife Genise Furtick, four daughters, Jhamiyah, Marley, Karizma, and Karima; One step-son Ja'Quan; a loving mother, Mrs. Patsy Furtick Fulmer; a step-father, Roy Eugene Fulmer; Foster Mother, Mrs. Rebecca Campbell; mother-in-law, Mrs. Janet Nelson; foster aunts, Catherine, Esther, Anna, Thelma, Willie Mae, Henrietta, and Dorothy; foster uncles, Roosevelt and James; 4 brothers, Michael, Tyrone, Corey and Douglas, Wagener-Salley, SC; 4 foster brothers, Furman, Melvin, Jeffrey and Charles; 1 sister, Tamika; 5 Foster sisters, Lydia, Mary, Maggie, Lemerle and Velecia; 2 Sisters-in-law, Christine and Tramika; Six Aunts, Carrie Mae (Joseph) Smith, Geraldine Talbert, Thomasenia (Willie) Bennett, Louvenia (Johnnie) Favor, Rosetta (Michael) Seawright, and Ethel Mae Thomas; Seven Uncles, Douglas C. (Mary Lee) Thomas, Asetural Gene Thomas, Bernard Reginald Thomas, Willie James (Bridgett) Thomas, Jonathan (Hattie) Thomas, and Kenneth Thomas; one great uncle, Asetural Haltiwanger, Jr.; a special foster sister, Lydia Peele and special brother Corey; host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Isaac Ezekiel Thomas, Foster Father, Mr. Willie Campbell Jr. and two foster uncles, Henry Brown and John Brown

Service Information

We will be open for viewing at the J.H. Robinson Funeral Home, 190 Railroad Ave W., Wagener, SC on Thursday, January 21st, 2016 from the hours of 6pm - 8pm. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM at Jerusalem Branch Baptist Church, 644 Jerusalem Branch Road, Salley, SC 29137. The church will be open one hour prior to service for viewing. Committal will be held at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC. Family and Friends may visit or contact the homes of his mother, Mrs. Patsy T. Fulmer or wife Genise Furtick.
