Mr. John A Thompson Sr., was the son of the late Mr. Purvis Thompson and Mrs. Viola W. Thompson. He was born on September 12, 1942, in Aiken County. He went home to be with the Lord on December 12, 2013. He dedicated his life to the Lord and served as a faithful trustee at Zion Hill Baptist Church, in Wagener, South Carolina. He found great joy in laboring and spending time on his farm. He retired from 40 years of service from Graniteville Mill. Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his oldest child Cynthia (Ricky) McLeod. In his loving memories he leaves to cherish his only son: John A. (Libby) Thompson Jr., two daughters: Teresa Shuler and Pamela Thompson, three brothers: Horace (LaVerne) Thompson, Alphonso (Shirley) Thompson, Julius (Wilheimina) Thompson; three sisters: Marie Adams, Pansy (Gene) Brown, Lassie Tobin, six grandchildren, two great-grand children, a devoted former spouse: Margaret Thompson, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Service Information

The family of Mr. John Thompson will be receiving friends from 3-7pm on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at JH Robinson Funeral Home, 190 Railroad Ave, Wagener, SC. A going home service will be held on Monday, December 16 at 2PM at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 5415 Wagener Rd in Salley, SC.
