Obituary

Jessie James "Mudd" Scurry, son of the late Justine Darnes Scurry and the late Jessie Lee Scurry, was born on June 19, 1958, and passed away on June 30, 2024.

Jessie was born in Wagener, SC, and was a lifelong resident of New Holland and Wagener SC. He received his educational, learning and trades with the Wagener-Salley Schools.

Jessie enjoyed going fishing with his dad and playing marbles as a "left-handed shooter".  He also enjoyed playing softball with his brothers.  He was the pitcher also know as "Aiken Sluggers".  He was especially fond of the Sunday dinners after church at his parent's home watching the brother's playing basketball.  Those family gatherings gave him time to cook for the family, and fry fish while spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Jessie worked for APAC Paving Company and was a loope worker.

Jessie was preceded in passing by his parents, brothers Willie Lee Scurry and Henry lee Scurry and daughter Kyrstal Scurry.

Jessie leaves to morn his lose one son Jessie A. Green; 2 daughters Keke Pontoo, and Jasmine Pontoo; 2 sister Ida Rose Williams, and Lillie Marie (James) Tyler; 6 brothers Joseph (Peggy) Scurry, Clemen T (Carol) Scurry, Daniel (Joanne) Scurry, Bennie (Toni) Scurry, Robert Scurry and Jackie LaVon Scurry; a special friend Betty Ann Pontoo, and a host of other family members and friends.
