On June 26, 1937, James Howard Holt Jr., was born to the late Francis Davis and James H. Holt Sr., in Pomonkey, Maryland. He was the fourth of eight children. Raised in a loving family, he grew to become a well-liked and well-known individual by all who knew him.
While in school, James excelled in various sports such as: track, long distance jumping, and basketball. He gave such stellar performances in basketball until he was nicknamed "Hot Shot." His popularity spawned many other affectionate names such as: "Big Junior," "Jimmy", "Jim", and "Monkey."
After graduating from Pomonkey High School, James felt compelled to protect his country's right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, so he bravely enlisted in the United States Navy. He served faithfully for eight years before he was honorably discharged.
During his time in the service, James met and married Mrs. Betty Jean Landy. While living in Boston, they both worked hard until they retired to Salley, South Carolina, where they built their dream home. After his beloved wife's death in 2001, James continued to live in their home until His Heavenly Father called him to his eternal rest on August 11, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his two sisters: Regina and Sylvia.
Mr. James H. Holt Jr., leaves to mourn his passing: his brother and friend, Wayne (Shirley), his sisters: Marie (Freddy), Judy (Devon), Audrey, and Yvette; sister-in-laws: Katie, Lourine, Mary, Mildred, Sallie, brother-in-laws: Arthur Paul Landy and James R. Landy; a host of nephews and nieces, a special caregiver: Christa "Chris" Fulmer (whose devotion can not be measured) and many other loving relatives and caring friends.
Like us all who are left behind, James Jr., was a flawed man. However, he is perfect now and is as innocent as the day he first came into this world. He soars now on the strength of the love that was given to him and even higher on the love that he gave.
The world seems less without him. He will rest forever in our minds and hearts. Uncle, Husband, Brother, Friend, and Deacon; He was all of this and more. He is unrestrained now, for he is with God.
