Homer James Jr., affectionately known as "Red", was born November 18, 1934 in Aiken County to the late Homer James Sr. and Maude Riley James . Homer was called home at Aiken Regional Medical Center on January 2, 2018. "Red" was educated at Calendonia School. He joined the Calendonia Baptist Church at an early age and served on the Senior Choir.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Ruby Posey, whom he has been married to for 62 years. Homer James worked for the Chalkbed Company for 17 years, and retired from the Savannah River Site after 17 years of service. He was preceded in death by one son, Micheal James, one daughter, Margie Dingle, two sisters, Flossie Ray James and Alberta James Nicholas and six brothers: Benjamin James, Herbert James, John Buster James, Jessie Collins James, Henry Willis James and Elbert Lewis.
Those left to celebrate his life and cherish his memories include: his wife Ruby P. James; three daughters, Pamela Hudson of Aiken, SC, Barbara Daye and Betty Smith of Batesburg, SC, Eleven sons: Donald James of Aiken, SC, Richard James, Ronnie James and Homer James of Monetta, SC, Jerome Smith, Ricky Smith, Alonzo Smith, Roger Smith of Batesburg, SC, Larry Smith and David Smith of Aiken, SC, Jimmy Smith of Maryland; Six brothers, Rubin Nicholas of Capital Heights, MD, James Eddie Otts of Walddorf, MD, Curtis Wayne Otts of Wagener, SC, Jerry Nicholas of Augusta, GA, Ronnie Nicholas of Aiken, SC and Lonnie Nicholas of Washington, DC; three sisters; Willie Mae Nicholas of Wagener, SC, Elaine Landy of Wagener, SC, Chenqua Diane Nicholas of District Heights, MD. Forty-seven grandchildren, eighty-four great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family of the late Homer James, Jr. will be accepting visitors at the J. H. Robinson Funeral Home, 190 Railroad Avenue West Wagener, SC on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 3 to 7 PM.
Funeral Services for Mr. Homer James, Jr. will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018, 1:30 PM at Calidonia Baptist Church 1887 Old Ninety-Six Indian Trail Batesburg, SC. Viewing will be held available at the church one hour prior to the homegoing celebration. Committal services will take place at the Calidonia Baptist Church immediately following the funeral services.
