Obituary

Mrs. Hattie Hay Williams was born on June 8. 1947 in Aiken County, South Carolina.  She was the daughter of the late Toll and Sam Ella Tyler Hay.  She transitioned to her heavenly home on January 4, 2024.

Hattie was a sweet woman who would give the shirt off her back to another person if they needed it. She was loved by many and was a respected member of her community. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and surrogate family member to countless people in her neighborhood. She was indeed an "every woman".

Mrs. Williams was a member of the Sardis Missionary Baptist Church and sang on the gospel choir for many years. She was employed by Wagener Manufacturing for many years before going into business as a restaurateur at the Hilltop Cafe. She was known for providing impeccable food and a great sense of humor to all of her patrons. She also did catering and delivered meals to many people in need.

Hattie loved everything about cooking for others. She spent a great deal of time working in her garden and harvesting crops to use in her kitchen at the restaurant and at home. She loved gardening just about as much as she enjoyed cooking.

Hattie was the daughter of the late Toll Hay and Sam Ella Hay. She was married to Frontis Williams and the mother to four children. Her oldest child, Gwendolyn Williams and her granddaughter, Britani Williams proceeded her in death; as did her older sister, Betty Ann Brown, and brothers Tolbert and Ronnie Hay.

Left to cherish her memories are her three sons, Frontis Jr. (Imani), Andrea (Yolanda) and Vernon Williams. Four sisters, Grace (Marion) Johnson, Blondie (Edward) Reed, Jackie (Monroe) Danley, and Joyce (John) Broadwater. Two brothers in-law, Clinton (Beverly)and Fred Williams. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, neices, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
