Gloria Louise Kitchings
The Gates of Heavens opened Wednesday, November 18th in the afternoon, concluding the life of Gloria Louise Kitchings and welcoming her into an eternal home. She was the third child of five children. Born May 16th, 1947 to the late Elouise and Delaware Kitchings.
She grew up and attended the public schools in Wagener, South Carolina. She graduated from A. L. Corbett HS in 1965. After graduating she attended Job Core in Nebraska where she studied Social Work. She attended and joined Saron Baptist Church at a very young age. She was a faithful servant even after her health began to decline.
She was employed at Midlands Center, South Carolina Department of the Mentally Handicap where she later retired. Gloria possessed an enormous passion and love for educating and fostering care to children of Special Needs. After her retirement, she continued to pursue that passion and love for Special Needs children by becoming an advocate and foster care parent until her passing.
Gloria had a genuine God given love for molding and teaching special needs students. She not only took these children in her home sharing her life, but she taught them basic self-help skills instilled values, stability, life skills and love.
She knew the value and importance of life,She loved spending her time traveling, playing bingo, perusing Good Will and most of all spending time with her family.
Gloria leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her loving memories two daughters Jacquita Kitchings Ashford of Columbia, LaDawn Kelly-Daniels (Jamilo) of Columbia; two sons Jason and Eugene Keitt of Columbia; her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren, Fantasia Free, Trevor Ashford, ShaDiamond Henry, and Jamaree Daniels; two brothers Lonnie (Juanita) Kitchings of Wagener, and Dennis (Robin) Kitchings of North Augusta; A god-daughter Gladys James of West Columbia. Preceding her in death were two brothers William Kitchings and Clarence Jerry' and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and other loving relatives and friends.
Service Information
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 20th, 2015 at the J.H. Robinson Funeral Home from 3pm until 8pm.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 21st, 2015, 12:00pm at Saron Baptist Church, Wagener, SC.
