A Celebration of Life and Victory for Mr. Gene "Buddy" Brown
So many unexpected deaths occur frequently and it is appalling but death cannot come untimely to him who is fit to die.
Deacon Gene "Buddy" Brown was called by his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at his home around 6:30 a.m. Deacon Brown was the son of the late Pierce and Mamie L. Culbreath Brown, born on December 1, 1948 in Saluda, South Carolina.
He received his education at Riverside High School in Saluda, SC and continued his education at Aiken Tech College and received his degree in Maintenance Mechanic. He retired from Owens Corning's Fiberglass after 27 years of services. He served in the United States Army (SP4) and received the National Defense Service medal: Sharpshooter Expert, Vietnam Service Medal: Combat Infantryman's Badge.
At an early age he joined the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, Saluda, South Carolina. He dedicated his life to the LORD and the Bethlehem Church and served as Deacon for 43 years and Church clerk for 30 years. He found Great Joy and Respect in his Church responsibilities and enjoyed working in his yard, garden and fishing.
He was a Past Worshipper Master of Jerusalem Lodge #400 PHA, Associate Patron in Jerusalem Chapter #375 Order of the Eastern Star, and Sublime Prince in the Prince Hall Consistory #282.
He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Pansy T. Brown on August 26, 1972. To his union three children were born: Daughters Tasha M. Brown and Tyimeka T. Brown of Atlanta, GA and Tyrus P. (Telesa) Brown of Jacksonville, NC. Three Grandchildren: Ty'resa Brown, Antonio Brown and Devin Brown.
He leaves to cherish and honor his memory; his loving wife, chilfren, daughter-in-law and grandchildren.
His siblings, brother Curley (Doris) Brown, and six sisters, Georgia Brown, Trannie Washington, Geneva Gasket, Nona (Michael) Griffin, Patricia Kay and Pauline Thomas. Two aunts, Tennie Ruth Lott and Dorothy Davis; one uncle, Curtis Gantt; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and extended family.
Service Information
Visitation for Mr. Gene Brown will be held Friday, June 12, 2015 at the J. H. Robinson Funeral Home, 190 Railroad Avenue W. Wagener, SC 29164.
Funeral service for Mr. Gene Brown will take place Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 238 Queeny Road Saluda, South Carolina 29138 starting at 1:00 PM followed by the committal service at the Zion Hill Baptist Church, 5415 Wagener Road Salley, SC 29137.
