Mrs. Evelyn Cullum Jenkins was born October 17, 1937 in Wagener, SC to the late Landis Cullum and Bessie Jenkins Cullum, she departed this earthly life on September 11, 2017. A an early age she got married to the late Carnell Jenkins and moved to Queens, NY where they lived for several years until moving to Columbia, SC where she continued to live until her passing.
Mrs. Jenkins was baptized at an early age at Baughmanville Baptist Church.Evelyn worked as an devoted registered nurse for twenty years in the New York City nursing system After, residing in Columbia, SC, she joined Holy Bible Church holding the office of the Mother of the Church under Apostle Nathaniel Alford. She was a very dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and was loved by everyone that knew her. Everyone who came over to visit her she would offer them a glass of her favorite tea.
Mrs. Jenkins was the second eldest of twelve children. Those that preceded her in death are Charles Jenkins, Alvin Cullum, Floyd, Freddie Cullum, Loretta Jordan, Betty Cullum and Rosa Davenport.
Evelyn C. Jenkins leaves to cherish her precious memories; one daughter Minister Joyce (Kevin) Davis of Columbia, SC; two sons Lionel (Cindy) Jenkins and Rex (Evelyn) Jenkins both of Columbia, SC. Thirteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, especially Xavier Jenkins, who was with her in the time of need including Kimora and Kamyah; four siblings Bonnie Mills of Augusta, GA, Barbara Ann (Willie) Frazier of Wagener, SC, Annette Pickney of Aiken, SC, Ronnie Cullum of Wagener, SC; ten sister-in-laws: Angela Jenkins, Jannie Mae Thomas, Anne Cullum, Barbara Everette Cullum, Barbara Hampton, Mary Ellen Wooden, Helen McKune, Thelma Smith, Zelma Bowman, Pauline Rheubottom; two brother-in-laws: Joe L. Jenkins of Raleigh, NC, and John L. Jenkins of NYC, and a hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Service Information
The Homegoing Services for Mrs. Evelyn Cullum Jenkins will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 2:00pm at the Baughmanville Baptist Church Wagener, SC. There will be a viewing prior to services from 1 to 2 pm at Baughmanville Baptist Church. Following the services the committal services will take place at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Wagener, SC.
