On Sunday, October 13, 2019, Elonzo Kitchings, loving husband and father of four passed away at the age of 66.

Elonzo was born on March 14, 1953 in Wagener, SC to LJ and Pearlean Kitchings, who preceded him in death.  At an early age, he joined Saron Baptist Church and served as a trustee for many years.  He graduated from Wagener-Salley High School and went on to serve in the United States Air Force retiring after 20 years of service as a TSGT.  After his retirement from the Air Force, he worked with USDA Rural Development for 23 years. Elonzo was active in the Wagener community and served on the Downtown Development Committee.  His work is evidenced with the beautification in downtown Wagener.

Elonzo was full of life.  He had a kind and compassionate spirit and was much admired by family and friends.  He had a sense of humor that made you laugh, creating treasured memories.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife of 22 years, Janice Kitchings; two daughters, Tera Kitchings-White and Courtney Jai Kitchings of Atlanta, GA; two sons, John L. Jenkins at Fort Hood - Killeen, Texas and Jamie W. Jenkins of Anderson, SC; five grandchildren, Miriam A. Kitchings, James E. White, Jr., Naomi E. White, Ever J. Kitchings of Atlanta, GA and Kaiden J. Jenkins of Anderson, SC; eight siblings, Perrie (JoAn) Kitchings of Wagener, SC, Judy Johnson of Aiken, SC, Loretta (Herman) Bing of North Augusta, SC, Louis (Brenda) Kitchings of Wagener, SC, Diane Buckson of Columbia, SC, Allen Kitchings of Wagener, SC, Debra Kitchings of Columbia, SC and Rosa (Earl) Jones of Grovetown, GA; a special cousin/brother, Robert McCullough of Durham, NC; one aunt, Annie Lou Anderson of Ft. Washington, MD; mother-in-law, Louise James  of Wagener, SC; two sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Chelsea Stillwell and the staff of Lexington Oncology along with the staff of Lexington Medical Center for the love and care shown to Elonzo and family.
