IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elizabeth J.
Barnes
November 16, 1932 – January 28, 2022
Elizabeth J. Barnes better known as Ms. Sis was born to the late Willie and Olivia Johnson On November 16, 1932, in Aiken County. She was a very sweet and strong woman who loved to fish and spoil anyone she surrounded (the entire family). When she got overwhelmed, her favorite saying was "my Lord".
During Elizabeth's early life she attended school in Aiken County. She was a dedicated member of the Chalk Hill Baptist Church where she served on the senior choir and served as a Deaconess. She attended faithfully until her health declined
She worked at Rikards Nursing Home until she retired to take care of her mother. She loved fishing, cooking, spending time in the yard taking care of her flowers, and sitting on the porch waving at every car that blew as they passed by. Her favorite scripture was Ezekiel 37:3-4 He asked me, "Son of man, can these bones live?" I said, "Sovereign Lord, you alone know." Then he said to me, "Prophesy to these bones and say to them, Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother William Johnson, husband James Barnes Sr, two sons Jasper and Donnie Smith, and three daughters Gwendolyn Smith, Lillie Ruth Barnes, and Isabell Davenport. She leaves to cherish her memories, three sons James Barnes Jr, Gradie Barnes (Annie Barnes), Willie Barnes, all of Wagener, SC. One aunt, Alberta Ables, Wagener, SC. One uncle, Arthur Ables, Miami, FL. Five sister in laws Louise Barnes and Edella Barnes Both of Jamaica, NY, Diane Barnes, Suitland, MD, Corine Barnes, Wagener, SC, and Shirley Holmes, Lexington, SC. 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
