A Life Begins, May 18, 1954 Elder Clinton Gantt, Jr. affectionately known as "Shorty Jr.", was born 63 years ago on May 18, 1954. He was the son of Clinton Gantt Sr. and the late Rosa Lee Davenport Gantt. On Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the Lexington Regional Medical Center, Lexington, SC the Lord extended his welcoming hands and peacefully escorted Elder Gantt into his kingdom. Elder Gantt was truly a man of God. At the early age of 16, he accepted the call of his life to minister the word. His focus was to teach people about the grace and mercy of God and to always react, "as Jesus would." He also had the gift to sing and was well known for singing alongside his uncle, the late Rev. Dr. Roosevelt Davenport, on the Parade of Quartets every Sunday. Elder Gantt expanded his spiritual gifts by learning to play the piano and held the office as Minister of Music at several ministries. He was officially ordained as an Elder at the Repentance by Faith Apostolic Church in Virgina under the late Pastor Jalorce Clark. Elder Gantt was also a lover of education as well as his country. After graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1972, he went om to attend RPI and majored in Chemistry. In his Senior year, he answered the call to serve his country and joined the Army. He eventually was awarded the rank of Sargent. While on assignment in Germany, he met his loving wife of 40 years, Majorie Gantt. He also instilled mode behavior into young adults of the CSRA while working as a Correctional Officer at the SC Department of Juvenvile Justice for 20 years. His presence will truly be missed by all the lives he impacted. Preceding Elder Gantt in death was his mother, Rosa Lee Davenport Gantt. Those remaining to cherish his precious memories are his loving wife, Majorie Gantt.
