Eartha Mae Charley, 80, of Wagener, SC, peacefully departed from this earthly realm on November 25, 2023, in Aiken, SC. She graced this world with her presence on May 26, 1943, in Aiken County, SC. Eartha, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, exemplified a life rooted in humility, gratitude, and respect for all of creation.
Deeply committed to the pursuit of knowledge, Eartha pursued her educational path at A. L. Corbett School, sowing the seeds of wisdom that would adorn her life's path. She then graced Wagener Manufacturing with her dedicated service, demonstrating a commitment to excellence in her career.
Eartha found solace and drew strength from her abiding faith, which found expression in the sacred walls of Union Hill Baptist Church. There, she nurtured her spiritual connection, embracing the teachings of humility, gratitude, and reverence for all of creation.
In the tapestry of her life, Eartha took pleasure in beautifying to her yard, finding tranquility in the beauty of nature's embrace. She embarked on journeys near and far, embracing the wonders of travel. Yet, her true joy radiated through the culinary creations she lovingly crafted for her family, embodying the essence of love and nourishment. Her caring heart extended beyond her kin, as she held a special place in her soul for the children within her community, becoming their guiding light and source of comfort. However, it was her cherished grandchildren who held the deepest and most cherished space within her heart.
As we bid farewell to Eartha Mae Charley, her gentle spirit and unwavering commitment to love and kindness will forever reside in our hearts. May her soul now find eternal peace, cradled in the embrace of divine grace.
Eartha's journey was preceded by her beloved husband, Booker T. Charley Jr, and her precious daughter, Margaret Sampson. They await a joyous reunion in the realms beyond.
Left to treasure her memory are her beloved daughters, JoAnn Ginyard and Dolanda Charley, as well as her grandsons, James Sampson, Andrew Sampson, Michael Sampson, and Fredrick Sampson. Her granddaughter, Chikena Sampson, holds a special place in her heart, as do her nieces, Barbara Bell and Helen Ware, along with her nephews, Nathaniel Scott and Leroy Edwards. Eartha's presence will be missed by her brothers-in-law, David Charley, Marion Charley, and Norris Sampson, and sisters-in-law, Brenda Sampson and Delores Sampson. Additionally, she leaves behind a remarkable legacy carried on by her 27 great-great grandchildren, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.
