Celebrating Aunt Dollie
Dollie D. Merchant (Dimp) was born February 22, 1932. She lived a life full of love and laughter. After 89 years of health and happiness, Dollie peacefully transitioned into the arms of the Lord on April 7, 2022. Dollie was preceded in death by her parents Tillman and Evelyn Williams, sisters; Jesse McKie, Vernell Corley, brothers; Tillman Williams, and Lonnie Williams.
Dollie was educated in Aiken County Schools. She joined Samaria Baptist Church at an early age. Her adventurous personality led her to move North. She spent time in Indiana before settling in Detroit for most of her adult years. In Detroit she joined Mount Olive Baptist Church. Because caring for others brought Dollie great joy, she followed her passion and became a part of the nursing ministry. She served God by being a dedicated member until she returned to South Carolina. Upon returning, she went back to her home church where Pastor and First Lady Sims, along with the congregation, welcomed her with open arms. She enjoyed worshipping there and loved Pastor and First Lady Sims. She often spoke kindly of them and treasured their visits.
Dollie's memories will be cherished by nieces; Eva Mae Isaac, Penn Lloyd, Sarah Brewton, Kathleen (Reese)Gunter, nephews; Joe Louis (Earlene) McKie Wade (Janice) Friday, Francis (Vernell) Williams, loyal, friend Lanora Keeling, and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
