Ms. Derotha Brown Quattlebaum was born January 17, 1952 in Aiken County, South Carolina to the late Simon and Geneva Ellison-Brown. She was the 4th of six children. She was preceded in death by a brother, James Leon Brown and a sister Mary Alice Brown Hudson.
Derotha attended Sardis Elementary School and graduated from A.L. Corbett High School in 1970. The last class to graduate before integration. Her favorite past time growing up was playing basketball.
Derotha was a faithful and dedicated member of the Victory Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the kitchen committee.
Derotha's employment included her retiring from Savannah River Site and her continued employment with the Tri Development Center until her passing.
She was a hard worker who loved to cook, go shopping, and take care of her family. She was affectionately known as the mac and cheese lady.
Derotha leaves to cherish her memories: A daughter, Amber Felder; Two sons, Derrick and Akanni Quattlebaum; three grandchildren, Nadia Quattlebaum, Ja'Kai Gleaton, and Damien Robinson ; five great-grandchildren; Brylen Johnson, Kristian Gilchrist, Zaniyah Robinson, Zion Robinson, and Kash Robinson; sisters, Rosa (James) Hall and Arlinda B. Jenkins; brother, Simon (Suzanne) Brown, brother in-law Ronnie Hudson, and God-daughter Deetra Jenkins. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
Derotha was a wonderful mother, grandma, sister, aunt, mentor, and friend. She will be greatly missed among all.
