Darrelle D. Wheeler Peterson "Denard" , 36, transitioned on April 4th, 2025. Born on May 7th, 1988, in Augusta, Georgia, Darelle was the beloved son of Samantha and La Roy Peterson. A proud member of the local community, Darrelle attended Aiken High School and later graduated from Cornerstone Christian School. He furthered his education at Universal Technical Institute, always seeking to learn and grow in his personal and professional life.
Darrelle was known for his radiant smile, infectious laughter, and his ability to bring people together with his kindness and humor. His love for life and his generous spirit made him a cherished friend, son, and father. From a young age, Darrelle developed a love for horses, learning to ride early on. He also had a deep passion for drawing and music, playing the guitar and often sharing his creative talents with those around him.
Darrelle leaves behind three beloved children, Joi Wheeler, Dalon Plush, and Dillon Wheeler, who were the light of his life. His memory will be held dear by his parents, Samantha and La Roy Peterson, paternal grandparents, Tony and George Peterson, maternal grandfather, Robert Wheeler, and his sister, Dahnisha Peterson. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.
Darrelle was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Betty and Walter Snoddy, paternal great-grandparents; Janie and George N. Peterson, Etha Rutherford, Leroy Brown and maternal great-grandparents; Lara and Robert L. Wheeler, and Florence and Robert Halloway.
Darrelle's legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. While his presence will be deeply missed, his spirit will forever shine brightly, reminding us to live with love, joy, and an open heart.
