Obituary

Cornell Pickens Miles was born on September 7, 1938 to the late Pickens Miles and Lucille Corley Miles. He was called to take his place in his heavenly home on September 12, 2025.

The early passing of his parents left Cornell and, his brothers and sisters to be reared by his devoted uncle and aunt, the late Tan and Nora Ellison.

Cornell was born in Aiken County, South Carolina. He was a proud graduate of A.L Corbett High School in Wagener, SC. While in high school, he drove the school bus. Cornell was considered the best driver and was always requested to drive students to their sporting events.

Cornell acknowledged Christ at an early age, and was baptized Smyrna Baptist Church. After completing school, Cornell moved to New York. While in New York, Cornell started his own landscaping business and where he remained until his retirement. After retiring, He relocated to Thomasville, Georgia.

Cornell was married to the late Elerie Trowell Miles. He loved spending time with his family and friends.

Along with his parents and wife, Cornell was preceded in death by; one brother, Author Lee Miles; three sisters, Lenora Miles, Mildred Miles and Betty Miles. Cornell leaves to cherish his precious memories: two sisters, Geraldine Miles and Corean Miles Brisgan, both of Philadelphia, PA; one brother, Wendell Lanie Miles of Aiken, SC; one Godson, Chris Smith; a loving special companion, Lelia White, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and friends.
