Charles H. Staley was the son of the late Lester B. Staley, Sr. and Myrtis Wooden Staley, and was born on March 19, 1947, in Aiken, SC. He entered into eternal rest peacefully in his home on Saturday, August 29, 2026, in Salley, S.C.

Charles received his formal education from A.L. Corbett High School. At an early age, he became a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Salley, S.C. After joined the choir, his love for singing allowed him to follow in his father footstep and became a quartet singer. Although a faithful member of Friendship Baptist church, Charles was always dedicating his love for God and fellowship with other sanctuaries through music and song, including Next Generation Churches Ministries and Antioch Bible Way, where he sang and played as a musician, and with various gospel groups throughout the years, including The Staley Brother, Gospel Originals, and Bishop Micheal Staley and Appointed, and The appointed. On July 18th, 2026, at Antioch Bible Way of Wagener, SC, Charles continued his dedication to Christ by being baptized in the Name of Jesus.

Charles was employed by the City of Aiken, for over 20 years, where he was dearly beloved by

his colleagues. Charles had a heart for people and a smile that matched. He was known for his bright smile, positive attitude, and willingness to assist anyone who needed help.

Charles married his sweetheart and the love of his life, Johnnie Mae Tyler on April 8, 1967. To this union, six beautiful children were born.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his loving wife, Johnnie Mae Staley, His five children, Charles (Lisa) Staley Jr., Aiken, S.C.; Karen Staley, preceded in death; Adrian (Barbara) Staley, Aiken, S.C.; Cathy (Carl) Dunbar, Williston, S.C.; Rosanna (Shedrick) Brown, Aiken, S.C.; Shernicese (Christopher) Jones, Salley, S.C.; Andrieka Staley, Tennessee; Charles Staley III, Tennessee.

Charles was preceded in death by his sister, Berdie Mae Garvin, and three brothers John Staley, James Staley, and George Staley.

He is survived by six loving siblings: Lester, Jr. (Gloria) Staley, Goose Creek, S.C.; Maggie Jackson, Aiken, S.C.; Catherine (Phil) Kennell, Aiken, S.C.; Mary Cummings, Aiken, S.C.; Bishop Calvin (Fonda) Staley, Aiken, S.C.; and Pastor Leroy (Linda) Staley, Aiken, S.C. In addition, Charles is survived by twelve amazing grandchildren: Ronald Staley, Cheryl Staley, Genevieve Morris, Trumaine Morris, Marisa Morris, Victoria Staley, Bradley Morris, Dominque Morris, Adrian Jr., Shamesha Dunbar, Damion Brown, Sha‘Mya Brown.  He also leaves behind twenty-Four great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
