Mrs. Carretha Jones Phillips was born on April 20, 1925 to the late Llyod and Beatrice Phillips Jones in Wagener, SC, and was raised in the home of William and Georgia Martin. On May 19, 2015 the almighty God reached out his hands of love to claim her back to him at her residence of 312 Carretha Lane, Pelion, South Carolina. Mother Carretha Jones Phillips accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and became a member of Hall Hill Baptist Church. She served diligently as a house wife and also gave many dedicated years in the homes of others. Mother Carretha Jones Phillips was married to the late Harold Phillips on May 18, 1935. She is also proceeded in death by seven sons, three daughters, and two sisters. Those left to cherish her loving memories are daughters: Joanne Stroman of West Columbia, Edna Phillips of Pelion, SC, Mary (Clyde) Smith of Aiken, SC, Annette Tolen (Charlie Lott) of Johnston, SC; sons: Carl Phillips of Pelion, SC and Bobby (Patricia) Phillips of Pelion, SC; daughter-in-laws: Evelyn Phillips and Kelly Johnson, a sister Henrietta (Samuel) Davis of Wagener, SC; eighty grandchildren, including a special granddaughter, Ms. Doretha Phillips, who took loving care of of mama until her departure, a very special friend of the family Addie Carter; a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Service Information

Visitation for Mrs. Carretha J. Phillips will be held Friday, May 22, 2015 during the hours of 2 PM to 7 PM at the J. H. Robinson Funeral Home, 190 Railroad Avenue West Wagener,SC 29164. Funeral service for Mrs. Phillips will take place at the Chapel Hill Baptist Church, 3113 Whetstone Road North, SC 29112 starting at 12:00 NOON. The committal service will resume at the Hall Hill Baptist Church, 1140 Cedar Creek Road Swansea, SC 29160.
