Annie Lee English was born on January 5, 1951 in Lexington County to the late Buster and Elise English. She entered into eternal rest on July 10, 2026.

Annie received her education in the Lexington County Public Schools and became a cherished member of the Hall Hill Baptist Church early in her life.

Known affectionately as “Cooter,” Annie embraced a motherly role for everyone who crossed her path. Her joy was found in cooking generous meals for both family and friends, and her vibrant spirit lit up any gathering with her love for dancing.

Annie enjoyed a fulfilling career in the healthcare sector, but she was also well-known in her community as the proud owner of the “Dew Drop In.” At her establishment, she not only served mouthwatering fried chicken that became a local favorite but also kept the community lively with high energy on the dance floor.

Annie was preceded in death by her parents; Buster and Elise English; five sisters, Geraldine English, Blondell English, Azalee Knotts, Myrtle Jackson and Janice Bolton and three brothers, Robert Lee “Tank” English, Leroy English, Jr. and Willie Lee “Stoney” English.

Annie Lee English leaves to cherish her fond memories her daughter, Darlene Phillips; two granddaughters, Annie “Kamile” Phillips and Felicia (Matthew) Marso; three great grandchildren, A’Laiyah Townsend, Arielle Phillips and Kylie Schlusser; a special nephew/son, Freddie “Bubba” English; two God-kids, Cedrick Jones and Meka Hammond, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
