Anita Lorraine Williams, born November 8, 1971, in Aiken County, South Carolina, departed this earthly realm unexpectedly on February 15, 2026, in Aiken, South Carolina. As the cherished daughter of Cathy Williams Pope and Bobby Gilbert, Anita's life was a tapestry of love, inspiration, and achievement.
A graduate of the Class of 1991 from South Aiken High School, Anita pursued further education at The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles, California, as well as the Ken Institute of Business for accounting—an endeavor that attests to her unwavering commitment to self-improvement and empowerment. Her adventurous spirit and desire to enrich her life led her to California, where she honed her talents within the fashion and design industry, marking a significant highlight among her proudest accomplishments.
For more than two decades, Anita served as a devoted FDA shipment processor at UPS, where her work ethic and dedication resonated with all her colleagues. Beyond her professional life, Anita was an active member of the Baughmanville Baptist Church, an organization that she joined at a young age, embodying her strong sense of community and faith.
Anita’s vivacious personality shone brightly in her role as an inspiration and role model to her family and friends. She took great delight in her hobbies, particularly braiding hair for girls and women in her community, fostering a sense of beauty and confidence in everyone she touched. Fondly remembered for running the neighborhood and playfully bossing her brother, Johathan Bernard Pope, around, her laughter and lively spirit will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew her.
Anita's beloved family includes her devoted son, Emashji Keith Williams; her brother, Johathan Bernard Pope; her sister, Lydia Cook; her cherished nephews, Darius Pope and Fred Eriko Cook; her loving nieces, Shanita (Ricky) Davis and Alice Smith; as well as her godparents, Ronnie Harris, Lorraine Harris, Greg Williams, and Maxine Williams. Additionally, she leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other loving relatives, and friends, all of whom carry with them the indelible mark of her love and guidance.
Her viewing will take place on February 27, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at J H Robinson Funeral Home, located at 190 Railroad St W, Wagener, SC. A Celebration of Life will be held at Baughmanville Baptist Church on February 28, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at 125 Baughmanville Road, Wagener, SC.
