Obituary

On March 24, 2018, Angelia C. Harris Jenkins entered into the golden gates of her heavenly home. Angelia was born January 2, 1942 in Lexington, SC. She was the daughter of the late Martha Harris Williams and Andrew Williams and the late Leroy Isreal, Sr. She was reared in the home of her late aunt and uncle, Sarah H. Lytes and Solomon Harris along with 12 cousins (Rose, Robert, Sandra, Ethel, Ernest, and Belinda Lytes, James, Sherrill, Shirley, Shelton, Reggie and Dwight Harris) who she considered her brother and sisters. Angelia married the love of her life, her high school sweetheart, Charles (Samo) Jenkins. To this union four sons were born Charles Anthony, Christopher Bernard, Dwayne Lamar, (Alexis) and Brian Patrick. Angelia graduated from Lexington Rosenwald High School in the Class of 1959. She serves as Secretary of the senior class and was voted, "most attractive" in the Senior Superlatives. She also attended Allen University and Midlands Technical College. Angelia retired from Lexington School District 1 in 2004. She was a lifelong faithful member of New Bethel AME Church and was active in the following ministries: The Usher Board, Pastor's Aide, Stewardess, Women's Missionary Society, Senior Circle of Friends, and she served as a Trustee for many years. Angelia enjoyed singing, travelling with the Usher Board and transporting members, dining with former co-workers, daily conversations with family and friends, spoiling her grands and great-grands and opening her home to extended family members. She was also the family historian. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Mr. Charles Jenkins, her mother, Mrs. Martha Williams, her father, Mr. Leroy Isreal, Sr., two brothers, Roger and Earle, three loving and caring cousins Rose Hill, Vera Harper and Shirley Smith. She leaves to cherish her precious memories her father Andrew (Jackie) Williams of Camden, SC; four dedicated sons: Anthony (Tony) of Lexington, SC, Christopher of Columbia, SC, Dwayne (Alexis) of Irmo, SC and Brian of Lexington, SC; five grandchildren: William Roseborough Jenkins of Washington, DC, Anthony Jenkins of Charlotte, NC, Jarvis (Shayla), Akhia and Sakia Jenkins of Columbia, SC. Two great-granddaughters: Lalla and Liyah Jenkins; siblings: Jessie, Barbara, Teresa, Shirley, Leroy, Jr., Emma, Vera, Daisey, Rebecca, Ricky, Randolph, Tony, and Abram Isreal and Leila; two sisters in-law and one brother in-law, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, Her kind encouraging spirit, service to others and faith in God will live forever in their hearts.

Service Information

VISITATION: The family of Mrs. Angelia Jenkins will be receiving friends and well wishers on Wednesday, March 28 from 3-7 pm at the J.H. Robinson Funeral Home, Lexington, SC. FUNERAL: The home going services for Mrs. Angelia C. Harris Jenkins will take place 3:00 PM on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at New Bethel A.M.E. Church, 500 South Lake Drive Lexington, SC 29072. Committal services will be followed immediately after the home going services at the church cemetery.
